Unfortunately Xcode doesn't contain a Fortran compiler, therefore you will have to install one.
Note: The binary Leopard build of R on CRAN requires Xcode 3.1 or higher However, if your OS X came with Xcode older than version 2.4.0, you will have to download a more recent version from the above site. Also, all recent Mac OS X versions come bundled with Xcode Tools, they are located on the installation DVD. They can be obtained from Apple's Xcode pages. In order to compile R for Mac OS X 10.4 or higher, you will need the following tools: (for Mac OS X 10.5 and higher look further down) NOTE: some links may be broken - older binaries have been lost in an incident.
